This Train-the-Trainer (TTT) workshop is designed to build the capacity of individuals working with Latino communities—especially Community Health Workers (CHWs), Promotores de Salud, and other trusted local leaders—to lead culturally relevant and emotionally safe conversations about end-of-life (EOL) care and planning (Rosenthal et al., 2010).
Hosted by Compassion & Choices, this 3-hour interactive training responds to the critical gap in EOL education for Latino communities, where studies show that Latino individuals are two to three times less likely to have an advance directive compared to non-Hispanic White patients (Crooks et al., 2023).
Participants will engage in real-life scenarios, storytelling, values mapping, and hands-on practice using the My End-of-Life Decisions Toolkit: An Advance Planning Guide and Toolkit (Compassion & Choices, 2023). They will leave with essential tools and strategies to initiate EOL conversations, support informed decision-making, and empower families to advocate for care that aligns with their values and traditions.
